8 Top Qualities to Look For in a Good Raleigh Vet

good Raleigh vetLiving in Raleigh as a pet owner, there is no doubt that you want a good Raleigh vet on your time should your pet ever get ill. Here at Leesville Animal Hospital, we are fortunate enough to have three incredible vets on staff! But if you don’t live near to our North Raleigh vet clinic location or if you haven’t yet decided to make us part of your family, you may be wondering what qualities to look for when searching for a good Raleigh vet. Well, we’ve talked to some of our clients and come up with a list of eight top qualities that they feel are important!

8 Top Qualities to Look For in a Good Raleigh Vet

1. Friendliness

We found that friendliness isn’t important to all pet owners, in fact, some even said that they would take a better, less-friendly vet over a competent but friendly vet. Here at Leesville Animal Hospital, we don’t believe that you should have to choose between these two things. Our family of staff love what they do and where they work so you will always be received with a friendly smile and all of our vets and vet tech staff are excellent at their jobs!

2. Patience

Patience is crucial for any good Raleigh vet. Working with animals (and children!) requires plenty of patience and if you find that your potential future vet is less than patient during your tour of their facility, it is worth noting. Of course, we all have bad days, but if you ever notice a member of the veterinary community treating an animal with anything less than patience, report that individual to their supervisor and please continue your search for a good vet in Raleigh elsewhere.

3. Respect

Patience and respect go hand in hand. A good vet will always be respectful of you and of your pet even if you don’t both see eye to eye. It’s crucial that you be able to speak openly and honestly to your vet about anything concerning your pet’s health and this can be hard to do if you do not feel respected. If you are respectful to your potential future vet and they are not respectful of you, it’s time to move on to interview the next vet on your list! You AND your pet both deserve to be respected.

4. Integrity

Integrity should be a necessary part of any profession if you ask us, but unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. These days many businesses, employees, and people, in general, lack basic integrity. Here at Leesville we firmly believe that a good Raleigh vet should always show integrity because it’s not only a reflection of their own character but it’s also a reflection of how they conduct business as a veterinary clinic in Raleigh.

5. Compassion

Compassion is one of the key defining characteristics of any good Raleigh vet. Without compassion, we have to wonder why a veterinarian would choose to be a veterinarian in the first place!

Here in our 27613 vet clinic all of our vets and vet clinic staff are very skilled at their jobs, but they are also all very caring and compassionate people. For us, that compassion is just as important as being a skilled veterinarian or veterinary office member because every animal and every pet owner should feel cared for when they step through our doors!

6. Honesty

Honesty may seem like a strange quality to list, but it’s actually a quality that many of our clients listed as being important to them in a vet. In some settings, you may notice businesses that accept dishonest conduct from employees so long as those employees are good at their job. However, here at Leesville Animal Hospital, we value honesty because it’s that honesty that builds trust in our veterinarians and our veterinarian clinic and it’s that trust that keeps our doors open!

7. Knowledge

This quality is something of a no-brainer! (Pardon the pun!) Any professional in a medical or veterinary position should be knowledgeable in their field. No, that doesn’t mean that they will always know the answer to your question, but it does mean that they will be able to track down that answer for you or find someone else who has it. Much like any other profession, veterinary work requires knowledge of subject matter but it also requires knowledge of local resources. As an active player in the North Raleigh community, Leesville Animal Hospital vet clinic has an extensive network of resources that can be put to work for your family when needed.

8. Accessibility

Perhaps one of the most important characteristics of a good Raleigh vet is accessibility. You need to know that if or when you need your vet that they are going to be available to you. Now, we’re not talking about same-day appointments for routine care here, but we are talking about urgent situations. Of course, your vet isn’t always going to be able to squeeze you into their schedule for same day appointments even when they are emergencies (particularly if they are in surgery that day!) but it’s important that you have peace of mind in knowing that your Raleigh vet clinic will always do their best to accommodate emergency situations.
