Our Vets at Leesville Animal Hospital Raleigh Vet Center
Here at Leesville, we have three veterinarians on staff who can keep your furry family member healthy!
Dr. Harold Pearce
Dr. Harold Pearce found his passion for veterinary care in his hometown of Harrisburg, Illinois. The only veterinarian for the small town was the father to one of Dr. Pearce’s close high school friends. This presented Dr. Pearce with the unique opportunity to experience veterinarian life first hand.
Growing up on a small rural farm, Dr. Pearce grew up with an appreciation for a wide range of animals. From pet goats and peacocks to pointers, beagles and foxhounds; animal life was always a large part of Dr. Pearce’s childhood. Farm life also taught Dr. Pearce the value of ethical care of food-producing animals and an appreciation for the self-sufficient lifestyle.
Dr. Pearce would go on to earn his undergraduate degree in agriculture in 1980 and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1984 from the University of Illinois. During his college career, Dr. Pearce not only excelled in his fields of study but was recognized by the national honor society of Phi Beta Kappa.
Four years after earning his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1988, Dr. Pearce built the original Leesville Animal Hospital. The hospital has since expanded to almost five and a half times its original size due to Dr. Pearce’s hard work and dedication. He might work hard but ask Dr. Pearce and he will tell you that it’s always worth it for the satisfaction he gets from improving the lives of his patients.
When he’s not serving as the voice for his patients, Dr. Pearce can be found spending time with his family, attending Bayleaf Baptist Church, playing golf and tennis, and smoking meats. Dr. Pearce and his wife, Sherry, are recent empty nesters with one son and one daughter who are currently attending UNC Charlotte and NC State respectively. Dr. Pearce and his wife don’t quite have an empty nest, however, as strong supporters of animal rescue, they currently share their home with three dogs and one cat.
Dr. Amy Neligon
Dr. Amy Neligon was born and raised in the small town of Wethersfield, Connecticut. From a young age, her love of animals was clearly obvious. Not one to settle for just cats and dogs, Dr. Neligon grew up surrounding herself with guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, turtles, crayfish, snakes, and fish as well!
Dr. Neligon earned her BS degree in marine and freshwater biology from the University of New Hampshire in 1997. She would then go on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University in 2004.
A year after earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Neligon joined Leesville Animal Hospital in 2005. As a full-time veterinarian, Dr. Neligon considers her patients to be family and enjoys a special relationship with each and every one of them. When she’s not focused on general care, Dr. Neligon enjoys working in the veterinary fields of internal medicine, surgery, dermatology and behavioral science.
As the primary caretaker for the Durham Highway Fire-dog Angus, Dr. Neligon has been named an honorary member of the fire department. Additionally, Dr. Neligon is a current member of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Neligon is married to her high school sweetheart, Jeffrey Neligon. When she is not serving as a chauffeur, chef, and maid to their three children, Dr. Neligon enjoys gardening, home renovations, reading, and relaxing with a cup of coffee! The family currently shares their home with a lilac point Siamese cat named Willow and hope to add to their fur-family in the near future.
Dr. Read Tull
Dr. Read Tull is a North Carolina native having grown up near Charlotte, NC. With a childhood filled with cats, dogs, horses, and reptiles, Dr. Tull nursed a passion for animal care from a very young age. His ongoing fascination with healthcare and animals left no question that Dr. Tull’s future lay in veterinary medicine.
A true Wolfpack devotee, Dr. Tull earned his BS degree in biology from NC State in 2008. Following his graduation, Dr. Tull earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from NC State School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. He would later complete a small animal internship before becoming part of the emergency veterinarian team at the Animal Medical Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
Ultimately Dr. Tull couldn’t resist the pull of the Triangle, joining the Leesville Animal Hospital team in 2015. A lover of all facets of veterinary medicine, he has fostered a special interest in general surgery and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Tull is also a current member of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association.
When he is not caring for his patients, Dr. Tull enjoys outdoor activities like cycling or hiking with friends. He is also an avid fan of both sports and classic cars, spending much of his time in the garage on restoration and repair projects. Dr. Tull currently shares his home with two mixed breed dogs named Zulu and Zephyr.
