Teaching Children About Dog Safety And Awareness

Here at Leesville Animal Hospital here in Raleigh, NC we hear a lot of questions from pet owners but perhaps one of the most frequent involves children and dogs. Dog owners are always asking how to teach their own children about approaching dogs as well as how to address other people’s children approaching their dog.

Take a look at this informational diagram provided by Humane Society of Decatur & Macon County in Illinois.

Teaching children about approaching dogs as well as learning how to approach children about approaching your dog is an important part of being a responsible dog owner.

If you worry that your dog is unapproachable we highly recommend that you speak with your vet for a recommendation for a behavioral therapist who can help you to work with your dog to create a safer environment for everyone.
