Bio

Dr. Amy Neligon was born and raised in the small town of Wethersfield, Connecticut. She knew she wanted to be a veterinarian at an early age as it was a career that combined her love of animals with her strong interest in science. As a child, she was always surrounding herself with a menagerie of cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, turtles, fish and even crayfish.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Marine and Freshwater Biology from the University of New Hampshire. She then went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She joined the Leesville Animal Hospital team in 2005. Dr. Neligon has been passionate about providing exceptional veterinary care and support to both her patients and her clients. She considers and treats her patients as family members and has built lasting relationships with their owners over the years. Her professional interests include internal medicine, ophthalmology, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Neligon is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association as well as a USDA accredited veterinarian. She has also been awarded an honorary member of the Durham Highway Fire Department for the support and care of their dog, Angus, over the years.

Dr. Neligon is married to her high school sweetheart and has three wonderful kids together. She also shares her home with a Siamese cat rescue (Willow), a chihuahua/poodle rescue (Brady), and an aquarium with a Betta fish, neon tetras, snails, and shrimp. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cheering her kids on at football and softball games, reading, home renovations, coffee with friends, and catching the sunrises whenever she can at Sunset Beach.
